Upon initial installation of your new film, you may see some of the following conditions:
Small water bubbles
Streaks or somewhat off-color film
Hazy or milky appearance
Do not be alarmed by any of these temporary conditions, they are all part of the curing process and will disappear within the 90-day curing period. Please do not clean your windows within the first 90 days. The film needs to cure and properly adhere to the glass before any cleaning is to be done.
There will be a thin light line around your film. This allows for expansion and is in line with proper installation instructions. Also, on occasion, there may be a small grain of dust or lint captured under the film that cannot be avoided. After the film has cured, it should not be easily noticed. If there are any imperfections, such as scratches on the glass before the film is installed, they may be highlighted after the film is installed.
New window film can easily be cleaned by mixing a few drops of dish detergent (Dawn or Johnsons Baby Shampoo) to a quart of water in a spray bottle. Use a soft cloth, sponge, or squeegee to clean the film.
Do not use anything harsh or abrasive on your new film, as it will leave scratches. Also, never use strong chemicals such as alcohol, bleach, or ammonia on your film. Never use scrapers, knives, or anything sharp, as it will damage the film. It is never a good idea to put any kind of tape or adhesive on your film, but if this happens, you can mix 1tsp. of baking soda to a quart of water using a soft cloth or sponge to remove adhesive.
Note: Not following these careful instructions can (in most cases) void your warranty.
STOP! Do Not Roll Windows Down for 3 Days
During the installation process, your dealer will remove as much of the mounting solution as possible; however, a small amount will remain. Trapped moisture can cause small water bubbles and/or a slightly cloudy look. This is normal and should be expected. Do not attempt to pierce a water bubble during the dry-out time. Water bubbles and the cloudy look will eventually dissipate.
Certain climate conditions can extend the curing time up to 30 days after installation. Cold and non-sunny weather conditions can lengthen the curing time, while warm weather and direct sunlight exposure will shorten it. If slow drying occurs, do not be alarmed. The trapped moisture will eventually dry out.
Do not clean the film until 30 days after the installation. This will help ensure proper curing of the mounting adhesive to the glass. Most non-ammonia-based glass cleaners will work well, although a good cleaning solution for window film is 1/2 ounce of liquid dish soap added to one quart of fresh water.
